Manners maketh man.

William of Wykeham (1324 - 1404), Motto of Winchester College and New College, Oxford

William of Wykeham, who 'is believed to have devised' this motto, founded only one Oxford college, New College. Winchester College is a secondary school in Winchester, Hampshire.

위와같다고 하지만 Man maketh manners 또한 옳은 말이기도 하다.

The Middle English Dialects

The feature most easily recognized is the ending of the plural, present indicative, of verbs. In Old English this form always ended in -th with some variation in the preceding vowel. In Middle English this ending was preserved as -eth in the Southern dialect. In the Midland district, however, it was replaced by -en,[...] while in the north it was altered to -es, an ending that makes its appearance in Old English times.
